Playback Singer Kalpana Raghavendar Hospitalized After Suicide Attempt, Condition Stable

Renowned playback singer Kalpana Raghavendar was found unconscious at her residence in Nizampet, Hyderabad, on March 4 after an apparent suicide attempt. The 44-year-old singer allegedly consumed sleeping pills, following which she was rushed to a hospital by police and local residents. She is now in a stable condition and undergoing medical treatment.

Police Forced Entry After No Response

Security personnel at Kalpana’s apartment noticed that her house had not been opened for two days. When multiple attempts to contact her failed, her husband, who was in Chennai, alerted the community members. Concerned neighbors informed the police, who forcibly opened her apartment door. They found Kalpana Raghavendar unconscious on her bed and immediately transported her to a private hospital for treatment.

Currently Undergoing Treatment

Doctors treating Kalpana confirmed that she had consumed sleeping pills. She was initially placed on ventilator support, but her condition has since improved and is now out of danger. Police have launched an investigation into the reason behind her extreme step, but no official statement has been released yet.

Several prominent playback singers, including Geeta Madhuri, Sunitha, and Sri Krishna, visited the hospital to check on her health. Her husband, who rushed back to Hyderabad from Chennai, is currently by her side.

Kalpana Raghavendar has been a part of the Indian music industry since the age of five. She has recorded over 1,500 songs across multiple languages and worked with legendary composers Ilaiyaraaja and AR Rahman. Some of her most popular tracks include Navamoorthulainatti (Intinta Annamayya), Pogiren (36 Vayadhinile), Ammadu Appacchi Nuvvantane Picchi (Indhra), and Gongura Thota Kada Kapu Kasha (Venky). She was also the winner of Idea Star Singer Malayalam (Season 5) and participated in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 1.
