Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife, Dhanashree Verma, have officially parted ways after their divorce was finalized by the Bombay High Court. The separation, which was fast-tracked ahead of the IPL 2025 season, gained additional attention due to Chahal’s choice of attire outside the court.

Viral T-Shirt Message Outside Court

After the court proceedings, Chahal was spotted wearing a black T-shirt with the phrase “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” printed on it. The message quickly caught the attention of social media users, sparking widespread discussion. As paparazzi called out for his reaction, Chahal remained silent and walked away.

Netizens quickly reacted to the viral moment, with many interpreting it as a subtle dig at the divorce settlement. Some users speculated that the T-shirt was a response to the rumored alimony amount, while others found humor in the situation.

Alimony Controversy and Dhanashree’s Statement

Dhanashree Verma had been subjected to online trolling for months, with claims suggesting she demanded ₹60 crore in alimony. However, recent reports confirm that Chahal paid ₹4.35 crore instead of the speculated amount. Following the controversy, Dhanashree issued a statement refuting the exaggerated alimony claims, calling them “baseless” and urging media platforms to verify information before publishing.

Fast-Tracked Divorce Before IPL 2025

The couple had filed for divorce by mutual consent on February 5, 2025. However, the family court initially refused to waive the mandatory six-month cooling-off period, citing incomplete compliance with the agreed terms. Later, the Bombay High Court intervened, considering Chahal’s IPL commitments, and directed the family court to finalize the divorce by March 20.

Chahal had already paid ₹2.37 crore out of the total ₹4.75 crore settlement when the case was first presented in court. Following further legal proceedings, the divorce was granted without any additional delays.

Yuzvendra Chahal’s Focus on IPL 2025

With the divorce now behind him, Chahal is gearing up for IPL 2025, where he will play for Punjab Kings. The veteran leg-spinner was picked up for ₹18 crore in the IPL auction, parting ways with Rajasthan Royals after a successful stint.

Yuzvendra Chahal, the highest wicket-taker in IPL history with 205 dismissals, remains a crucial asset for Punjab Kings as they prepare for the new season starting March 22. His transition to the new team marks a fresh chapter, both professionally and personally.

While the legal battle has concluded, the public discourse surrounding Chahal and Dhanashree’s separation continues to dominate social media discussions. As IPL 2025 approaches, the cricketer’s focus now shifts back to the game, leaving behind a highly-publicized personal chapter.
